Datacenter Dangers #24 – Disturbing Your Peace

“That’s the sound of disturbing the peace, and a public nuisance.” — “Anyone nearby will never sleep well nor live in wellness again. Low rumble is toxic. Constant high-whine is toxic.” — “I never thought I’d hear something more annoying than my tinnitus.”

Every statement is sourced by scientific studies, published anecdotes, harmed victims.

Sounds like an idling lear jet. No one should have to live next to that.

Well that’s because it likely is. A lot of these are running small jet turbines for power

And the “gas” are methane! A 22 time worse greenhouse gas than CO2 that actually are much more polluting than if the jet turbine were running on jet fuel, A1. The CHEAPEST means of large bulk energy production now are mega wind turbines. The get the methane as it comes up from their expensive high emitting fracking wells. In USA and Australia the fossil fuel lobby are so strong that they are allowed to call the result of fracking “Natural gas/LNG” despite there are NOTHING natural about that process of pumping chemically made strong acid underground where it causes local earthquakes and risk groundwater for generations.

That’s the sound of disturbing the peace, and a public nuisance.

The low frequency noise emitted by data centers causes heart attacks and strokes in a 5-mile radius.

These people won’t be able to move because who is going to buy their homes? No one wants to live near that. These residents need to band together and file a lawsuit for the loss of their home values and loss of quality of life due to the data facility. I am also pretty sure sleep deprivation is explicitly prohibited under international humanitarian law.

I never thought I’d hear something more annoying than my tinnitus.
